Can samsters together affect H81 rates?

I know I am not the only samster here upset about the $30 charged by H81.
Not to mentioned the $15 per additional hr.

Question is, are we collectively large enough and united enough to affect change in H81 pricing policy?

Can we collectively boycott a hotel chain (H81) for say 30 days?

During that month, samster do not have to abstained, they can continue to cheong at other hotels as we target a hotel chain at a time.

If we are united enough, I believe H81 feeling the effect of our boycott, will reconsider their price hike and agree to return to their previous rate of $20.

Once H81 revert to $20, other chains like Fragrance will have no choice but to match them in order to compete.

Any organised action needs to be planned in advance.

As bros here are unlikely to cancel slots with Ang Bai that they been queuing for a long time.

Depending on response to this thread, if the above proposal is well received, we can begin our Boycott starting Sept 1-30.

If we have not affected change by then, we can always review or extend our game plan.

1stly, most budgetted PRCs have their own area. So there's no need for H81.

% of Budgetted < Cheongsters.
% of Total samsters < Local hotel go'ers.

More and more hotels are opening up, there's a definite reason for that i guess. More and more business.

Doesn't mean that if you boycott for like 1 month u'd do much damage to them unless you say that EVERY single samster boycotts it, but even so others would go to it if they've got attractive rates

I guess when owners have the capability in opening a hotel, they also have the capability and are already prepared for a certain loss. I doubt they'd reduce just cause of 1 month-2 month's boycott.

U can be a billionaire, if your hotel occupancy drop by say 30-50% after a price hike/ boycott, you'll rethink your price hike.

Fact is that H81 is not consistent in their pricing - charging $30 for some joints and $20 in others (2 hrs) Most samsters, I believe will deliberately avoid the more expensive locations unless the lady only operates out of a praticular hotel.

By boycotting the $30 locations, we can drive home the message.

Before Fragrance Kovan up their price to $30/2 hrs, I went there for a short time with one of my usual FL.... Crappy room with small bed with cigarette burns in it.... Blanket was musky smelling and hidden in the built-in cupboard.... Bloody TV was anchored so slant it hurts our neck trying to watch the programme on it.... When I went back to Fragrance 2 weeks back and realised they upped their price as well, I straight away called the FL and cancelled the appointment. No point paying $30/2 hrs anymore.

I used to go K81 every 3 weeks since 2 years back and now... PUI!

I'd rather go to Jln Sultan these days.

Already boycott Kovan Area totally. If u get crapy service dont hesitate to complain to their HQ via email. Nowadays i don give chance, once i never shave the counter staff say i look like terrorist. Next day i shoot email to the HQ. They offer two hour free stay on my next trip.

My support. Stopped going to any that charged $30 and switched to the $20 hotels. Honestly speaking, $10 is not all that much but I do expect it to be obviously better given that it's charging 50% more. If it's not better, why the increase ? Take advantage of location ? Last I checked, nobody restricting my hotel choices.

I have another suggestion. Not all samsters may read this thread. Let us target those threads where the FL prefers using $20 H81 and make known our intention. I believe we can succeed. This is for the consumers' interest. Today just read in the Straits Time Tan Kin Lian (ex-CEO of NTUC) just started a consumer body to keep tab on financial institutions.

Let's start one in this forum to keep tab on H81. I think with the large numbers of membership in SBF we have the clout to do it. Good idea to begin with Kovan81.

Not to mentioned the $15 per additional hr.

To hike rates from $20 to $30 is to increase their room rates by 50%

Where else has prices has risen by 50% overnight?

Question is, are we collectively large enough and united enough to affect change in H81 pricing policy?

Can we collectively boycott a hotel chain (H81) for say 30-60days?

Whether it's wiser to target ALL H81 or just those charging $30?
I'm honestly undecided.

a) Should we as quite a few bro have have suggested, frequent only H81 charging $20 and avoid those charging $30


b)Does it make sense to "boycott some H81" only give our money to another H81 location? Can we register our displeasure with H81 while still supporting other H81?

c) Will boycotting ALL H81 put greater pressure on management?

In business sense, with 50% price hike, they sure have done their homework. To have 50% price hike, it must be that there are very few hotels in that particular area and they have problem handling the demand or that the demand is very high as compared to other branches in other area, so the price increase is to encourage bros to make the extra effort to go other branches in other areas.

So by boycotting cat $30 H81 only, it suits them and is what they want.

With the boycotting by only bros here, will it actually help? Kovan h81 increase their price to 30 some time back and everyone is saying to boycott kovan h81 ( me too) to go Fragrance kovan hotel. But in the end, fragrance kovan hotel increase their pricing too. Why? The demand is too high. There are fixed cost and variable cost for every branch. The high demand cause them to incur additional variable cost while other branch with low demand still incurred monthly fixed cost. Hence, they could earn more with the price increase (incur less additional variable cost). So i feel that by boycotting only cat $30 H81, it is not gg to have much impact, but helping the h81 management to earn more. Unless bros boycott all h81...

I hear you, H81 have different prices for different location. If Bros and Samsters here only aviod H81 charging $30 and go to H81 charging $20. That serve them just fine because there's always some willing to pay $30 and as such they will never reduce the price.
IF WE BOYCOTT ALL H81, than they will feel the pinch/effect.
To not boycott ALL H81, is like saying I will not give you $30 to put into your left pocket but I will still give you $20 to put into your right pocket.

I think the effect of Boycotting ALL H81 will be more immediaitely felt by management.

Remember they could be test-marketing the $30 price at a selected few location now. If they don't see any downside, next it could be ALL H81 charging $30.

We are not planning a indefinite boycott.

I don't think the board will do anything except giving them a warning at the most. Most important is people like us (or me) start to skip the $30 transit branches to force them to consider dropping their rates officially.

I was a small shareholder in a hotel on Joo Chiat (now under different management).

Actually $20 for two hours, the profit is less than $3.

Washing of sheets and towels (contract), new pillowcases, snack, drinks, toothbrush = approx. $3

Labour costs, front desk, housekeeping = $4

Depreciation, plus repairs and replacement = $3

Hotel management plus directors = $2

Running costs, water, electricity = $2 (wah, punters use shower like swimming pool)

Bank interest and installments = $3

Why do think we sell out - not so easy - lucky we make on property price increase. I see alot of Geyland hotels changing hands now.

We only make money when one room can rent out more than 10 times, i.e getting 5 star revenue for a small room.

The perk of job is seeing all the FLs walk through - sometimes have discount rate when you start to recognise them and smile.

I think targeted strikes much better tho I stopped going to any that is $30. I think it would be correct to say that management at both hotels know each other. If all their $30 get targerted and $20 high booking, seems the wise course would be to change all to $30. After all, they do have a high numer of transit hotels outside GL.

If only one hotel of one chain get boycotted, that may serve up a different problem for them.

Suggest Kovan ? Since fragrance and 81 both there, and if they do back down, have two hotels at $20 instead of one.

Unless the room is 50% larger, the price increase should NOT BE 50%!
Also how does swimming pool and resturant concern transit clients?

They can charge a higher rate for tourist booking overnight/20hrs.
If they feel bo wah to not charge transit higher rate than convert the hotel to strictly Nightly rates.

Bottmline Charging us extra for Swimming pool is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE
