If GL is closed permanently, who would satisfy SG foreign workers sexual needs? I don't think it's a good idea to phased out regulated commercial sex industry. AV probably knows it very well.

You're kind to assume the government gives a shit about the sexual needs of its male foreign workforce in Singapore when most if not all of them have been living under effective prison work camp conditions since April last year. There's a reason why you barely ever see them in public outside of work nowadays. Because their lives now are purely work and dorm and nowhere else. For a long time they could not even buy alcohol to drink in their dormitory canteens. You think anyone in power cares for their sexual needs?

Same goes for us Sinkie guys. The ideological and religious Puritans we have in government and civil service now would probably be glad to see nightlife and any sort of visible vice wiped out in Singapore, and turn the country into a sanitised stale MNC corporation... Oh wait... We already are.
