Remembered this match real clear. VDS broke his nose when Robbie Keane connected with his knee accidentally. Ferdinand was wearing the GK's jersey under Gaffer's instruction but Gary neville barked that O'shea will be better; so as not to disrupt a steady back four with a man-down.
After just a few minutes on the field as GK, O'Shea found himself one-on-one with his Republic Of Ireland teammate with no defender insight within miles. O'Shea ran out near his penalty area and spread his body ala-Schmeichel. Blocked Keane's shot with his trailing leg. Red Devil fans erupted with new song!! Real classic.
