Yes, u can get by with just English. Read page 1, TS nono's travel guide for more reference,i think he is 1 of the few here who couldn't undstd Indo language. Most Indonesian in btm understand a bit and can speak some broken english.
In this thread,there's even 1 or 2 european men who travel to btm at ease.
