Just finished my trip, tried to enter from the china side, got rejected at the borderpost of the Shan state, due to Oct 1, so no choice ,explored xishaungbanna. The journey was hellish, literally had to cross a dingy and into some rubber plantation, 2 checkpoints before even making it to the border village. Took 3 to four hours by bus , then got held up at some ulu border check point maned by Shan state soldiers, if want to go need junket contacts. Heard the price is around 1k rmb to do everything. Not worth the hassle for unknown result. Better go from Thai side.
