Chapter 2: No pain no gain


Fast forward to the next few weeks, our after school schedule is basically workout and some training for street fighting at Joshua’s home. First lesson is to receive beatings to toughen us up. Armed with sparring gloves, Joshua and Jasper told me to flex my stomach as hard as possible and they started raining blows to my stomach. They did not use too much force for a beginner like me but after the some time, I couldn’t stand up. I just knelt down in pain. That kind of pain doesn’t come immediately, it comes slowly. Its like the pain creeping slowly to my internal organs. Then, it’s the same for orh jiao and xiaobai. Xiaobai is the worst, just 2 punches and he knelt down and “kio tolong”.

“eh, how to be paikia like that?” Joshua mocked.

Xiaobai couldn’t stand the mockery and stood up again. Same thing, 2 punches and he knelt down again.

“ok, let’s take a break for a while.” Joshua said as he took off his gloves.

The doorbell rang and Joshua went to attend to it.

“SURPRISE!” came a sweet feminine voice.

It was Celeste, Melissa and Yi Ting. All of them are in their pinafores And ponytails. Deadly combination for boys with raging hormones, you know what I mean.

Celeste and Joshua hugged while the rest of them exchanged greetings. Then, Melissa turned her attention to me.

“oh hi handsome!” she greeted cheerfully with a wide smile. She was waving and her boobs were jiggling from side to side. I swear that was a sight that got stuck with me until today.

“Hello” I waved too, still didn’t have much energy after the series of liver shots and stomach blows.

I smiled to myself. It’s obvious that she likes me. Ok let me make it clear, other than the immediate attention she gave to me when she entered the house, Wei Kang had been telling me in school that Melissa had been going through Celeste and asking Joshua about me, what do I like and stuff like that, ever since we met at the mall. I got teased by them quite often, especially xiaobai, saying stuff like: ho seh liao, got 2 extra “pillows” for my comfort etc.

Somehow, training session became a chit chat and Matchmaking session for Melissa and me since the arrival of the girls.
