I spent the entire week back from my secondment clearing my paperwork.

Even though Kate was back, it seemed like the mountain of tasks that were left on my desk was untouched.

I was lucky in the sense that nobody really disturbed me throughout the week, allowing me to focus on my outstanding tasks. I didn't even need to OT just to clear the work.

He had turned down Shirlyn, and perhaps even Jasmine so easily recently, it was highly unlikely that he could actually give me any solid advice about a non-monogamous relationship. Hence, Ann was a good choice to start with, then possibly Darren and Nat. Except I didn't really want to ask Nat as I was still going to sleep with her if Jasmine asked me to.

Ann's advice was simple, to manage the jealousy and expectations, assuming this was what Jasmine really wanted. After all, she did say before that it would all stop once we got married, if we even got married. She had yet to finalize the divorce.

I spoke to Ann about that as well, and she passed me the contact of her lawyer, in case Jasmine was looking to get someone else to handle her case. While Ann's lawyer did not really specialise in divorce, she was sure someone in his firm could help out. Being a long time client, she told me to just mention her name and he would give Jasmine a good rate.

Lastly, she told me about Alicia.

Needless to say, she was a little disappointed about Alicia dropping out of medical school. But ultimately it was her own choice on what she wanted to do with her life. She asked if Alicia was in contact with me but I told her she wasn't. Ann seemed a little surprised, considering how close we had become, especially Alicia and Jasmine.

According to her last correspondence, Alicia was currently doing volunteer work in the Southeast Asian region. Something like the doctors without borders thing, except she wasn't a doctor. I was a little surprised as I never expected Alicia to be interested in that kind of thing. The way she playfully diagnosed me when I was injured made me think that she was studying medicine just because she could, and not because she wanted to. But I was glad anyway that she had found something meaningful to do with her life, even if it meant giving up or putting her studies on hold for now.

Before we left, Ann told me she had driven her MPV, and asked if I wanted to see the backseat for old times sake. We both had a little laugh about it and went our separate ways.
