Episode 30

It was a simple straightforward plan, Chelsea was told, hours later.

But it didn’t feel that way to her as she went through it. Chelsea may have been a little rash in her reaction, but who knew things would turn out this way right?

Chelsea was scheduled to meet her friends from the YouTube channel that she frequently worked with, they being the crew that produces most of the channel’s content. Sitting right on the sofa was a man in his forties, whom given the fact that no one else was around, is assumed to be the producer mentioned earlier.

“Come, make yourself comfortable” the Producer said, directing Chelsea to sit at one of the sofas.

After some friendly banter, the Producer cut to the chase and asked if Chelsea was interested to be part of their productions. Chelsea naturally responded affirmatively, somewhat pleased that they were so accepting.

Yet things didn’t appear so simple as the Producer requested for Chelsea to “show that she is suitable for the job”.

Having experienced what she had so far, Chelsea immediately grew suspicious. Is the Producer hinting at sexual favors in exchange for her being casted? She would expect this from someone Jeremy introduced her to, but not the friends from the YouTube channel that she had worked with! They had, in her mind, always been rather professional.

“Erm… I’m not sure I get what you mean sir” Chelsea replied meekly, attempting to test the waters further.

The lines bright as day, Chelsea knew what she had to do.

And so she did.

The elephant in the room was the fact that everyone now knew Chelsea was willing to do whatever it takes. The question was only on how to broach the subject.

Removing them one by one, he noted that the whole thing was meant to be a prank and a surprise, building on the #MeToo phenomenon and to be uploaded onto their YouTube channels subsequently, which was why one of the crew members were live-streaming it as a sneak preview.

All the hidden cameras taken down, Chelsea’s friend leaned forward towards her and noted that since she was such a willing partner, he would very much like to finish what was started just now.

Thus, Chelsea was once again disrobed on the same very furniture of her own accord.

It was also when Chelsea found out, while adequately filled, that the Producer was no more than an actor who was tasked to play the part. Facing the stairs this time, Chelsea no longer leapt away in surprise as a couple of crew members who finally finished cleaning up came up the stairs.

Episode 32

Sometimes, all it takes is one mistake for things to completely haywire.

At least that was what happened for Chelsea.

It had begun with a simple and straightforward prank by her friends in the YouTube scene, something frankly speaking, not that uncommon anyway.

But it was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

A few seconds of live footage, with no way to censor was all it took, for a swarm of related videos and pictures to flood the internet.

Chelsea quickly became the talk of the town, with threads and videos of her posted all over the internet. For videos that were overly sexuailised (which in short was all of the videos Chelsea participates in), the same amount of views only earned its content creators a fraction of profits, heavily hampering incentives of content creators to introduce such work.

Naturally, these meant that the market value of Chelsea plummeted through the roof, with producers less interested in engaging her services because of the niche area she serves in and also to steer clear from being associated with the scandal.

Just like water, the platform that can support and feed one also possesses the ability to sink one.

All these meant that despite approaching graduation, Chelsea, Vince and Jeremy were facing unemployment. All the time and resources invested into Chelsea’s internet career meant de-prioritising their academic work and their results clearly reflected the reality. Even Chelsea’s tryst with the Professor, who would still occasionally call on her from time to time, could only help that much.

It was going to be a matter of time before they were going to run out of the buffer that they had built for themselves in Chelsea’s good days. At least Vince’s skills could still be applicable elsewhere, less the exclusive arrangement with Chelsea. But options were limited to say the least.
