Drugs that can cause impotence
Has your libido tanked or are you no longer reliably rising to the occasion? Before you rush to get the blue pill perhaps you should review the medications you might be currently on to see whether they could be the culprit:
https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/004024.htm Drugs that may cause impotence Many medicines and recreational drugs can affect a man's sexual arousal and sexual performance. What causes impotence in one man may not affect another man. Talk to your health care provider if you think that a drug is having a negative effect on your sexual performance. Never stop taking any medicine without first talking to your provider. Some medicines may lead to life-threatening reactions if you do not take care when stopping or changing them. The following is a list of some medicines and drugs that may cause impotence in men. There may be additional drugs other than those on this list that can cause erectile difficulties. Antidepressants and other psychiatric medicines: Amitriptyline (Elavil) Amoxapine (Asendin) Buspirone (Buspar) Chlordiazepoxide (Librium) Chlorpromazine (Thorazine) Clomipramine (Anafranil) Clorazepate (Tranxene) Desipramine (Norpramin) Diazepam (Valium) Doxepin (Sinequan) Fluoxetine (Prozac) Fluphenazine (Prolixin) Imipramine (Tofranil) Isocarboxazid (Marplan) Lorazepam (Ativan) Meprobamate (Equanil) Mesoridazine (Serentil) Nortriptyline (Pamelor) Oxazepam (Serax) Phenelzine (Nardil) Phenytoin (Dilantin) Sertraline (Zoloft) Thioridazine (Mellaril) Thiothixene (Navane) Tranylcypromine (Parnate) Trifluoperazine (Stelazine) Antihistamine medicines (certain classes of antihistamines are also used to treat heartburn): Cimetidine (Tagamet) Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) Hydroxyzine (Vistaril) Meclizine (Antivert) Nizatidine (Axid) Promethazine (Phenergan) Ranitidine (Zantac) High blood pressure medicines and diuretics (water pills): Atenolol (Tenormin) Bethanidine Bumetanide (Bumex) Captopril (Capoten) Chlorothiazide (Diuril) Chlorthalidone (Hygroton) Clonidine (Catapres) Enalapril (Vasotec) Furosemide (Lasix) Guanabenz (Wytensin) Guanethidine (Ismelin) Guanfacine (Tenex) Haloperidol (Haldol) Hydralazine (Apresoline) Hydrochlorothiazide (Esidrix) Labetalol (Normodyne) Methyldopa (Aldomet) Metoprolol (Lopressor) Nifedipine (Adalat, Procardia) Phenoxybenzamine (Dibenzyline) Phentolamine (Regitine) Prazosin (Minipress) Propranolol (Inderal) Reserpine (Serpasil) Spironolactone (Aldactone) Triamterene (Maxzide) Verapamil (Calan) Thiazides are the most common cause of impotence among the high blood pressure medicines. The next most common cause is beta blockers. Alpha blockers tend to be less likely to cause this problem. Parkinson disease medicines: Benztropine (Cogentin) Biperiden (Akineton) Bromocriptine (Parlodel) Levodopa (Sinemet) Procyclidine (Kemadrin) Trihexyphenidyl (Artane) Chemotherapy and hormonal medicines: Antiandrogens (Casodex, Flutamide, Nilutamide) Busulfan (Myleran) Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) Ketoconazole LHRH agonists (Lupron, Zoladex) Other medicines: Aminocaproic acid (Amicar) Atropine Clofibrate (Atromid-S) Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) Cyproterone Digoxin (Lanoxin) Disopyramide (Norpace) Estrogen Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar, Avodart) Furazolidone (Furoxone) H2 blockers (Tagamet, Zantac, Pepcid) Indomethacin (Indocin) Lipid-lowering agents Licorice Metoclopramide (Reglan) NSAIDs (ibuprofen, etc.) Orphenadrine (Norflex) Prochlorperazine (Compazine) Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) Sumatriptan (Imitrex) Opiate analgesics (painkillers): Codeine Fentanyl (Innovar) Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) Meperidine (Demerol) Methadone Morphine Oxycodone (Oxycontin, Percodan) Recreational drugs: Alcohol Amphetamines Barbiturates Cocaine Marijuana Heroin Nicotine

Re: Drugs that can cause impotence
I did a quick survey amongst my close friends who depended upon Viagra in order to get a good erection and guess what!... many of them were also taking hypertension medication.
It turns out that many hypertension drugs cause ED. The category that are LEAST likely to interfere with sexual function are the ACE Inhibitors and newer ARB drugs. Beta blockers and diuretics were the worst culprits. So if you're on hypertensive drugs and you have ED do a bit of research first to see whether they could be the cause of your bedroom/brothel problems before you start popping the blue pill. A simple switch to a different class of hypertension medication could possibly solve all your ED issues. What compounds the issue is that many doctors never mention the side effects of the pills they are dishing out. I guess they feel that it would discourage patients from taking the medication which would result in consequences far more serious than the side effects. However with information about every single drug on earth being widely available at reputable websites doing ones own research is quick and easy. The knowledge gained often brings about a Eureka moment that could significantly improve your quality of life. If any of you out there have something to contribute on this issue please feel free to add to this thread.

Re: Drugs that can cause impotence
I had thought that antidepressants would increase libido instead (make you happy!) Same for recreational drugs coz you often hear of these being used in sex n drug parties, to increase the sensations.
As for antihistamines and painkillers, that's noticeable sometimes when you have the flu and on these meds, erections also dampened but often people think it's the flu rather than the meds. Chemo drugs? If you need these, probably won't be thinking of sex already! |

If you have to take beta blockers then Viagra is a good option if you want to keep your sex life and your heart ticking away smoothly.

My current estimate is that at least 50% of sinkie men over 45 are either on statins or hypertension medication or BOTH. It is therefore no surprise that the ED potions are doing a roaring trade.
