Hi all, am new here and chanced upon this thread. I can justify what ourworld said.

I have HSV1 (cold sore) myself since teenager days and have been dealing with it ever since. It belongs to the same virus family as HSV2 (Genital Herpes) except it appears on the mouth instead. For my case I took Lovir Aciclovir Tablets only when I feel that an outbreak is coming soon (tingling sensation on affected areas) and it can reduce the possibility of outbreak by a huge percentage depending on how soon I take the med upon discovery.

And mrs ow is right about outbreaks during weak immune system.. usually my outbreak comes right after a flu session. But from my understanding it's not passable unless you are having outbreak at that point in time. I likely got mine from my ex-gf, damn suey and not curable somemore...

Hope i give more insight for HSV to all the bros and sist here....

Not being the devil's advocate here. But since u never knew the symptoms and tot u may be sick. And testing can't tell when u got it (if u were the 1st to get it)

How did u know your husband was not the carrier and passed it to you? And maybe he also did not know he had it.

Bottomline in your situation it is hard to determine who got it first and who pass to who

I have genital herpes too and my trigger is usually stress from work. Wearing tight jeans have also triggered it in the past. I used to take Medovir daily to surpress it but have since stopped.

Now, I just megadose 1000mg Lysine supplements whenever I feel an outbreak coming on. Note that if you work out and drink protein shakes, it usually contains arginine which can trigger an outbreak. If that's the case, you'll need to take Lysine supplements to offset the arginine in the protein shake. Would also help to monitor your food and reduce the amount of arginine in your diet (chocolate, oats, wheat products, peanuts) and have more of those that are rich in lysine (fish, chicken, beef, yoghurt, dairy products).

I am married btw and my wife knows I have it from the time we were dating. She was aware that herpes is actually quite common and can lay dormant in people and trigger when they least expect it so I'm quite lucky in that sense! We've been married more than 10 years and she still hasn't had an outbreak.
