No blame on Quansah at all. Lad made a mistake that he'll learn from. The blame for that draw lies with the forwards. Nowhere near clinical enough. Need Jota back asap.

Unfortunately it ain't in our hands anymore.

Going to be very difficult now.

May be a good idea to focus on the league. We don't have the squad to participate in 2 competitions. Our strikers are all off form. Glad Jota is back.

Awful result & performance from Liverpool, the only consolation about getting beat so heavily is Jurgen should play a full second string in the second leg & go all in for the league!

We shall see next week which option Klopp goes for.
a) Focus on EPL or
b) choose to fight back.

I think we underestimated Atalanta big time, they let us have the ball but stopped us doing anything with it, typical Italian performance of the past.
Elliot never looks good when starting , Jones needs time to get match fitness. Gomez was dire. We got to beat Palace and move on.

Sat back last night and had a long think...needed to make this post...

What we have done thus far this season is not an overachievement. We're the second or third best side in the league. That's our level. The talk of winning four trophies was mad. We never had the squad to compete at that level consistently. We're just playing at our level now. It might be good enough to win 7 games in the league but it seems doubtful. The hope is both Arsenal and City aren't good enough to do that either, which seems extremely unlikely to be the case with City given their fixtures.

Just got to win tonight and then see where we are.

There is something missing and this has been a sore point of Liverpool not this season but for quite a number of seasons, other then some success in cup competition, we had been coming up short when its comes to the BPL title, always coming close but just missing out the top prize only winning it once so far. I feel FSG has not fully address this.

I remember watching us in pre-season at the National Stadium. We had lost Fabinho, Henderson, Milner, Keita, Oxlade Chamberlain. Our regular midfielders left from last season are youngsters Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot. We also lost a senior striker who can play as an attacking midfielder in Firmino. Absolutely no idea then how our midfield will be for this season. I think we are over-achieving this season for a team that made so many changes. Every other team has lost more than us this season.

We have only lost twice in the EPL. One of the losses was that unjustified loss to Spurs where the VAR referee went to sleep. Given that we also have our fair share of mid to long term injuries this season (Alison, TAA, Matip, Jota, Robertson, Tsimikas, Curtis Jones, Gravenbech), it's amazing we won a cup and have a chance to win the league with 7 games remaining. Remember we sent in our kids in the league cup final against Chelsea.

At the start of this season, I thought this will be a season of transition given we lost all our experienced midfield players. Thiago is still around but he is like Keita from the past few seasons. Almost non-existent. Sadly next season will be a transitional season too.
