We will be shifting our focus to better provide sexual health care to those that really need to be seen by us. This means that we may recommend some people with a sexual health concern see their GP (family doctor), Family Planning or other health care service first. Read more about these changes. ![]() Who we are Auckland Sexual Health Service aims to provide sexual health care that is client focused, culturally appropriate and of an excellent standard. We are a specialist service offering free and confidential sexual health care including: diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections and other related conditions including genital skin conditions, genital pain and sexual dysfunction, reproductive health including contraceptive advice sexual health counselling adult sexual abuse service including the care of related medical, nursing and social issues sexual health education, including Peer Sexuality Support programmes for schools Appointments We have an appointment system. You can contact us via phone or via our online form, requesting an appointment. Appointment Availability Due to staff shortages Auckland Sexual Health Service is experiencing issues with managing current demand for nursing, medical and counselling appointments. If you have symptoms and feel you need to be seen urgently-please phone one of our clinics and ask to speak to a nurse. The nurse will ask some questions to assess how urgently you need to be seen and will advise you when you can be assessed. If you walk-in without speaking to a nurse we may have to ask you to re-book on another day. Clinic Closures We may also need to close some clinics at short notice so please phone ahead to check whether we are open on the day you wish to attend rather than walking in. Please check individual clinic days and times on our Clinics page. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by clinic closures. Male clients should hold urine for 2 hours before their appointment. Results and treatment Some results will be available when you are seen and treatment can be given if required. Confirmed results will be available within 10 days. If any of your results come back as positive we will contact you. Staff training Our staff do provide training to other health professionals. Sometimes we have other health professionals sitting in during consultations. We always ask your permission in these circumstances. Why attend? The following symptoms may indicate a sexually transmitted infection and we would suggest you attend for a check-up or ring for further advice: A discharge from the penis or vagina Pain passing urine Pain in the lower stomach or genitals Lumps or swelling in the genital area Genital sores or ulcers Genital rashes Anal symptoms relating to sexual intercourse Not all sexually transmitted infections have symptoms. We advise a routine check-up 2 weeks after unprotected sex or if you have had a change in partner.

We provide counselling for individuals and couples, for up to 6-10 sessions where necessary. Issues we cover include : sexual functioning, sexuality and gender issues, STI and HIV counselling, non-ACC covered sexual abuse, sexual compulsion. The service is free of charge...... More here |

Registration When you attend for your visit you will need to complete a Registration form including your name and contact details.
